Not much to say about this one. As the saying goes: "F8 and BE THERE!" (although in this case, it was more like "f2.8 and be there")
Taken in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve back in 2010 after a storm passed through.
Techs:
Nikon D3s with Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR-II
f2.8 @ ISO-320
Can't remember why I went for f2.8, but it was the first time I used an f2.8 lens so I think I just wanted to see the results

Hmmm...you seem to have a diagonal band of colour noise across the sky - perhaps some noise reduction in order??
Nice find and I do like the colour added by the rainbow and the giraffe definitely looks nice and sharp. Without knowing a thing about the shooting situation and the scene outside the frame, I'm wondering if a bit more of a "scape" (wider angle) could have worked slightly better here?? The reason I say this is that I'm not sure the two main elements here complement one another strongly enough to work optimally in such a tight crop - rainbow is nice and giraffe is nice but I'm left wishing I could see more of both? Not sure this makes too much sense...hopefully you'll get what I'm driving at (and, could well be that a wider scene was totally impossible anyway...).
Cheers...thanks for sharing this...
Brad
cheers, Luca
I was away for a couple of days.
Brad - of course I do have a wider shot, will post it just for you
Luca - please elaborate on what you would have liked to see different in the composition? The giraffe perhaps more centred?
