Excellent catch! Gorgeous birds, nice angle for seeing the mating, and a great beach. Unfortunately, a little soft and a little noise on the birfs.
As this seems pretty tight in the frame to me, you could back off the crop a little, and this would likely improve the issues as well.

Great behavior image Graham, love the up close and intimate view. It looks like you could have backed off the shutter speed and iso if you had wanted to. :toast:

Great behavior you caught here. I like the wingspread on the upper bird, too. Some noise in the back ground which can be handled. Also a little halo around the lower bird's legs-maybe from selective lightening there. I agree about loosening the crop.

Nice behavior capture Graham. The female seems a bit bored. I like it.

A very nice capture, Graham. I agree with Sandy's comments and echo Nate's question: in hindsight, you culd have reduced noise by dropping the shutter speed to 1/1000 and moving the ISO to 200 or so.

Jim, Logically you're right but I had to follow this pair along the beach and the light and background was varying and when I started my shutter speed was only 1/800th sec. I didn't stop to alter settings in case I missed any action which only lasted a few minutes. Graham
