We're living just about ten minutes from this small town in the northwestern part of switzerland. This year I just started a serie to portrait this small town just the way I see it. I'm trying to look for different perspectives.
This one shows an old fountain and in the distance you see the "Biel Gate" which is the west entrance to the old town of Solothurn.

Techs:Nikon D700, AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G ED VR @18 mm, Iso:200, 10sec,f13, polarizer

I'm an active night shooter and really like this shot. It gives the feeling of emptiness on the street while the town sleeps. The fountain nicely anchors the foreground while the street leads your eye deeper into the photo. One thing I'm curious about is the use of polarizer. I have not used a polarizer for night shots, partly because it eats up ligh and partly because I just didn't think of it. Did you use it to kill reflections in the fountain?

@ Kent, I did use the polarizer to kill the reflections in the fountain. i took another one without the polarizer and the water in the fountain didn't look nice. Thanks for your feedback.

Lovely night scene Bill. The empty street and gentle light on the buildings set a nice peaceful mood.

I like this, Bill. The FG object works well. Good lighting also. Finally, your
DOF choice seems to be right on. I'm looking forward to more postings.

Wonderful capture Roland. My only thought might be to remove the "WV" marking on the end of the fountain. This might just be me, but I find my eye going there. Great capture other than that minor point.

Bill, the curve of the fountain really makes this image. Great lighting.

I like the fountain in the foreground and how it leads the eye down the street, into the distance. Very attractive night shot.

Fantastic Bill. This is so nice to look at. I enjoy how you look at things and seeing what you have close to home.
