Fence is out of focus at the front end so if I was doing it again, I would probably shoot it at f19 ?? I don't think it detracts from the mood though. C & C welcomed and appreciated.

I assume this is a picture of a Snowy Owl? The B&W treatment works well for this; it reinforces the snowy feel and helps direct attention to the owl. Your DOF choice does help create a good mood for this picture but, as you say, you may have been able to have a smaller aperture and still created this mood and had the front of the fence more in focus. For this photo though, I think if you would crop some off the left side that would eliminate some of blurred fence and you would still have a great photo.

I don't find the oof fence on the left distracting. You've got a nice mood with the owl in the snow storm and I think b&w is a great choice here. I could see cropping from the right to the fence. This would move the owl off of dead center and add emphasis to it while retaining the mood.

Lindy I like this BW & haze version. You have perfectly placed the fence leading the eye through the picture. Great hazy BG. Well done.
