Just Trillium

Trillium are perhaps the sign that spring has finally arrived in the northwoods. This carpet of trillium was in the Upper Peninsula last weekend. Dramatic lighting is difficult to come by in the woods and wondrous skies are not to be found. So, I tried to keep most of the sky out of this image. I would like to have shown more of the hills, but there was just too much sky. Still learning about focus stacking and tried stacking 3 images together. This image is also thanks to the state trooper who scared me into slowing down so that I could find this image just off of the highway.

Thanks in advance for comments.

You know you have to slow down!! A wonderful image! I enjoy this very much. Your larger version is the way to view this one!

Wow, I've never seen this many trillium (trillia?). Gorgeous view up the little valley, and I like the log in the lower left corner. Nicely done!

What a carpet, indeed. Just love how it extends on and on in the scene. The "V" in the back makes a nice focal point for the scene.

I think trillium is singular or plural. Whatever, they are wonderful. Thanks for the comments.

Great choices Tom. I love how the fg log leads into the V in the hills and the carpet of trillium is amazing. Seem to be almost spent here just south of Traverse

Incredible array of trillium. Like your choice of not including the sky; that and the nice V notch in the background really focuses all the attention on these remarkable flowers. Outstanding.
