Resting Place
by David Edwards
For me, this photo embodies the essence of the Girraween granite-belt landscape area. The granite outcrops and distinctly Australian bushland create a sense of history and imbue a profound spiritual presence. The stormy sky, lighting and color also creates a classically painted look that some of the early Australian landscape painters like Eugene Von Guerard and Nicholas Chevalier used so well in their paintings. Delving into Aboriginal history also reveals that this very area of Bald Rock creek was uses as a meeting place for many different Aboriginal peoples during their travels.
There is a presence at Girraween that is easier to experience than to try and explain. I feel this photo is my best attempt so far at capturing the feeling of that spirit.
I understand many won't feel the connection the way I do, and probably find the image too busy, but that's cool, I'd still like to hear your thoughts on any aspect about the image.

If it resonates with you then that is all the really matters. As you already mentioned, it is quite busy and I find it a bit hard to find a place for my eyes to rest, although center right on that bald bright spot looks good :).
It really does have a "feel" to it, David, and I'm not usually one to tie into that. I really like your processing on this. Rich and dramatic.
