Reflection - Trillium La

The reflection of Mt. Hood in Trillium Lake shows just a small patch of ice remaining after a long winter's sleep. The brilliance of the reflection is enhanced by the lovely blue of the sky and water. I stopped here on my way home from photographing the sunset and sunrise at Tom McCall Preserve. It is great when you receive a gift of beautiful sky and doubly so when those sky's are reflected in almost still water. And what better for the central subject than Mt. Hood. This is quite likely one of the most photographed locations in the Pacific Northwest but I still love coming here to see what mother nature has in store.

Simple, but pleasant shot, Phil--i like it. Not sure but it looks like it could have used a CP to increase the contrast a bit.

Stan,

I did use a circular polarizer with this image as you can see the left or northern side of the image is a much darker blue. With the 24mm TSE lense I have to be very careful about getting too much of the effect. As this image was made about 10:00 AM the light was getting rather harsh so I have toned down the contrast a bit in by two image blend with the use of luminosity layers. I could probably tweak the contrast a bit but that could blow out the highlights and make the shadows too dark. When I get around to printing this image I'll likely try that.

Thanks for your comment.
