Another shot of one of the catbirds near my back porch.. I did lighten up his rusty feathers under the tail. this was taken at the end of the day, almost dark,, so I upped the iso.

shot with nikon d700 and 70-200mm2.8 with teleconverter on tripod

400mm, 1/200th at 5.6, iso 1000

I really like the head turn & upward gaze here Sally, nice.
Great setting with all the different shades of green, sharp details & very well composed :toast:

I agree with Howard Sally. I like the head turn and the background works well setting off the subject. A very nice composition of a subject that not often well seen.

Sally: Nice image of the bird. Pose and comp look fine to me. The noise on the background is pretty evident at ISO 1000. Some selective NR would improve the image.

Nice pose; good work getting it in such an open position and in a nice setting.

I'd go slightly darker on the catbird for a more natural look - this seems a bit bright as presented.

Sally, you are getting a seriously nice collection of catbird images. I agree with the previous suggestions, but this is great.

Thanks for comments and suggestions everyone........... I have darked him up a bit, sharpened and tried to reduce noise in this repost image.

Sweet portrait of this handsome bird Sally  I think the repost is better, but it looks like you may have lost a bit of feather detail in the new version.

Very nice Sally. I like that you can see the rusty patch under the tail.

The tones of the repost are more natural and improve the image IMO. When using noise reduction it is generally best to do that selectively on the background to avoid taking out detail on the subject. Duplicate the layer, select the subject, invert the selection, and then apply NR.
