WC536 Umpqua Dunes Dawn

It could be argued that color is relative and that all photos are suitable for this challenge. Our coastal dunes are a case in point. The sand crystals give these dunes a chameleon-like ability to reflect whatever is going on in the sky. From day to day, the color is always different. Comparing hundreds of images, no two are exactly the same color, if separated by a significant period of time.

Lovely sky and dunes, RL. The purple/pink combination works very well. Although wonderfully gentle and inviting as presented, I could see playing with different crops from the bottom to further emphasize the sky.

Beautiful sky and I am really drawn to the texture of the dunes.

Wonderful combination of beautiful colors in the sky and interesting texture in the dunes. I like the comp on this with the grouping of trees sillouetted on the left to balance the high dune on the right. I agree with Mark that a crop up from the bottom to make the horizon at the 1/3 spot would help enhance the sky and include only the most interesting part of the dunes.

Hello Miro: This is a scan of Velvia, so the color is enhanced that amount, but only that amount. The basic settings I usually use otherwise. Most of the color comes from a red dawn.
