Shot this at Gulf Islands National Seashore back in January in one of the more wooded areas of the island. I was attracted to the shape of the branches and also the subtle coloration. Also thought the pine cone added a nice little touch.

Large version available.

D2x w/ 70-200 VR @ 125mm (VR off)
.4 sec @ f/11 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
Singh Ray Polarizer

All thoughts and critiques welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Oh wow! The colors are fantastic. Fine detail is excellent too. I like the pine cone too, but the cactus really adds a point of interest for me.

The subtle colors really work for me Bill. I also like the cactus spines poking up through the pine needles.

Very nice Bill. I just love the color in this and the detail is fantastic. Excellent job putting this composition together as well. The pine cone does add a special little touch here. Great light for this scene!

How you (and Anil Rao) can make these seemingly ordinary scenes into such extraordinary pictures is beyond me. There really are pictures everywhere if I just knew how to see them.

Love the design of your composition, Bill. The lines of those branches have wonderful motion, and the pine needles add a wonderful textural and abstract quality to the entire image. Exquisite.

Wonderful. The earth tones are great and the detail along with the lines takes this over the top. I think that most people would not even notice the potential in this scene.
