Walking Stick Bug on some ripening blackberries from this morning.
The light & shot was a bit tricky. The "filtered" light from a nearby oak was constantly changing across the insect.
I finally just flashed it with fill using the 580 EX.
Megaphasma species is North America's longest insect..

F/18, 1/250th, ISO 640, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x ext.
Full frame, as shot.

Impressive image, Howard. I've only seen a Walking Stick a couple times in my life. Superb capture of this one. Excellent comp with the bug positioned between the ripe berries against the nice BG. The lighting looks quite good as well. :toast:

Good fill light and love those berries. Gotta love the Lone Star state.

Very cool shot Howard, at first glance at the thumbnail it literally just looks like a stick!

That is one cool bug, Howard! You have captured him well against a good blurred background. The clearly focused berries add a nice pop of color. I'd say your lighting worked out great. Fine shot!

Very cool! I thought it was a twig at first. The color of the berries really makes this shot.
