Sensuous Iris

It couldn't have been a better 4-day weekend for my photographing. Who can complain when you have a beautiful, comfortable morning, a huge garden of flowers in front of you as you happily shoot amid the sound of rush hour traffic after the big holiday! I worked these one day with the macro lens, the next with my Lensbaby with a 2.8 aperture, and today with a 4.0 aperture for a little better depth. As my name suggests, my favorites are the lighter colors and big petals the have nice curve and character. The possibilities are endless with this lens. I know that the extreme soft focus does not work for everyone, but it sure makes me happy to enjoy them! Thanks for taking a look!

I really like extreme soft focus in macro shots as long as there is a sharply focused area strategically placed somewhere in the image for our eye to settle on, as there is here.

I like the effect the Lensbaby gave to this flower image with the focus on the fuzzy middle (don't know proper terms for this) and the rest of the flower in decreasing focus. Your comp of this flower with a slight rightward tilt gives a nice flow to the image. It all works together to certainly create an image that is sensuous looking. Great shot, Ned!

Ned- Just a terrific flowing effect for this Iris from the Lensbaby. Just try this if you can on more colorful Irises.

Very dynamic image, Ned ! I do like the soft feel - it gives a sense of movement as if the wind were catching the flower - beautifully conceived and executed.
