A greater celandine in my garden. Never thought to take a photo of this common plant, but in the evening sun it looked beautiful.

Lots of interesting elements to this photo, Elisabeth. I especially love the backlit emerging bloom on the left! The backlighting really highlights the hairs and flower. This would be a fantastic photo in itself! It would mean a severe crop if the resolution could stand it. I also like the top open petal and the effects of the backlighting but that other flower is definitely the winner IMO. The varied colored background is interesting also. I think some varying crops could be played with for this image.

Elisabeth - Lots going on in this frame. Love the terrific lighting highlighting the Celandine poppy, buds and the fine hairs. I also like being able to see the center of the poppy in bloom as a shadow.
I think a square crop removing much of that yellow thing in the background makes this photo very strong. You may want to think about other cropping options that meet your approval as well.

Creative image with interesting light and beautiful color. I like the silhouette in the main flower, and the rays at the top of the image. My only reservation is the yellow object in the ULC, which is a little too dominant in my opinion. I think cropping about half of it would make this image even better.

Elisabeth this is an image with nice composition with very good detals and excellent backlight. I'm not quite sure about the bright BG (top left). IMO it is distracting this nice composition.

thanks for really good comments. I myself don't like the yellow blotch in ULC. Even when taking the photo I was debating about removing that flower, but thought that was too much intrusion into nature. I am a little out of the loop, what is IMO??

I agree with the other suggestions given Elisabeth, and think if possible, I would try and duplicate the conditions and make this a stand alone subject. I really do like the back lighting.

Elisabeth:
The backlighting on this looks really interesting; brings out the cilia on the stem and the shadow on the translucent petals are real nice. There is too much going on in the bg which is interfering with the main subject. Worth trying this again with different bg.
