Nice pose and the woodpecker looks sharp. I would personally prefer a darker background, to me the brightness of the background overpowers the woodpecker.

I like the pose and the broken branch perch. Image quality and focus look pretty good but it's hard to tell on a small image. I don't know for sure but it looks like you forgot to increase the size of the image intended for the large post. It can be up to 1200 pix on the longest side and file size can be up to 500K. It would really look good at the larger size. My only criticism is the BG hotspot on the lower left.

Great capture Vanessa! The background does take away from the Red Bellied Woodpecker. Maybe you can tone down the colors in the background a bit, but everything else is great especially the perch and the eye contact you were able to capture.

I love the colours here - so vibrant!
Maybe take out some of the blues in the feathers? I presume they should be white and black?

Very nice pose, Vanessa. Agree about the brightness of the BG (but you could easily tone that down in postprocessing). Your techs (camera settings) look good for your focal length - all the bird and perch are in focus and the BG nicely soft. The bird is fairly well positioned in the frame, although you might consider shooting something like this vertically, as the space up top is a bit sparse and the bird is looking upward out of the frame. As a rule of thumb for me, if a bird's pose is taller than wide, I will try to frame vertically. A vertical would get more room for the bird to look into, and yet there would be enough space to the left of the subject. As to the larger image, you will need to process a larger one, not the same as the posted one. Nice work!

Sweet portrait of a great bird, boy I wish I had these in my backyard. The bright spot in the lower left does draw my eye away from the bird though. I think a vertical crop may be worth a try. Very Nice Work Vanessa

Excellent pose and a fine perch, background is good too - although I agree with Ken about the bright area. Wish I had these in my backyard.
