"Lillie"

It was an overcast sky and I was out taking pictures of some of my Blue Birds when I decided to take a photo of one of my Day Lillies. I have enjoyed this flower for years and had never stopped to photograph. I have not posted much in Flora, but would love to hear your C & C's on this photograph!

Canon EOS 50D, F/9.5, ISO 640(I know I should have lowered), Focal length 210mm. 90% full frame, post processing in CS5

Nice color and detail. I like the comp with the buds on the side of the flower. Very nicely done!

Beautifully done, Carlette. The bg is, I suppose, somewhat busy but I think it works fine here with the flower and buds standing out well and some lovely yellow'green colour harmonies.

I think this is fantastic Carlette. The BG is shown just enough to make this an environmental portrait... Stunning work in my opinion, and look forward to seeing more.

Carlette - I like the great focus on the Daylily and the choice of DOF. I also like the inclusion of the habitat, specially the small leaved fronds in the background but wish the shoots coming into the frame from the left edge were not there.

Carlette:
The capture of the lily is spot on (bet its easier than capturing a bird  ) The bg is quite nice as well with the leaves and soft greenery. The shoots are a little distracting and the dark tree trunk on the left draws the eye as well. Overall still a very nice. Do visit more often and look forward to seeing more of your post here.

beautiful portrait of a lily, but the BG is distracting my eye specially the twigs. The green fern leaves are nice. May be try this with a F/5 to blur the BG.

Very nice blossom. Agree with Gary that image would be much improvied by toning down the background.

Fine shot. Only very subjective nit is would like the bg a bit more blurred.
