Captured this RW Blackbird last evening with overcast conditions. Used Spot metering to try to preserve detail in the blacks. Canon 1DMKIII, 500mm & 1.4, Iso 1000,F5.6, 1/200 sec.
Would appreciate any suggestions to capture detail in the blacks on birds.

I like the smooth background. I does seem that the head is slightly softer than the body...a DOF issue or perhaps the slowish SS contributed?

Nice and sharp, and the detail looks pretty good to me. You would likely get more comments, including some with suggestions, if you are able to make more comments on other images.

I like the pose and the simple background works for me. I noticed the softness as well, unusual - big crop, noise reduction used, other?
