Daisy dining

by Carolyn Derstine

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted May 30, 2012104 views4 comments
I found this crab spider on a daisy dining on his catches. Earlier I had seen him sitting in the middle; note his coloring from that perch and the pollen on legs and body. These spiders disguise themselves on flowers and catch the bugs that land on the flower.

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/16 for 1/8 sec. ISO 100. Tripod mounted, on-camera flash.

Great image Carolyn, so interesting to see the colors as you pointed out, I wouldn't have realized otherwise. Great composition and I like the slightly bent petal it really gives extra character.

Looks like nature has made him very efficient. Excellent timing, Carolyn, and detail about the spider's front. :toast:
