Taken on yesterday morning on a camping trip to a local wilderness area here in the Adirondacks. The road leading to this area was technically 'closed' but having a Jeep I had no problem navigating the numerous washouts and downed trees along the way to this lake at the end of the road

It was a short walk down to the lake from here where I set up camp for the night. Sitting under the moonlight in front of my campfire at this wilderness lake and listening to the loons eerie call all night was incredibly peaceful.
The next morning I awoke to a beautiful sunrise and after shooting it I headed to this spot that I had scouted the night before. I used my 80-200 to pick out this "island" of dead trees nicely sidelit by the morning sun.

27 commentsJeeps are awesome, aren't they? Funny thing, here in Casper, I'm convinced my Jeep is the only one that is ever muddy, except for some of the older CJs. Cracks me up...why buy one if you're going to drive it around town like a soccer mom SUV?
Beautiful huskies by the way.

Wonderfully simple and effective comp with appealing colors. Don't know how many shots like this I have passed up over the years while looking for the bigger picture and sunrises -- big mistake. The mist makes this one special.
Black fly relief? I usually have to clone out a few from my shots!
