Leopards in India are very shy compared to Africa. There are few places in India, where one can photograph this elusive cat in the open.

This handsome male crossed the road and climed on to a tree not even 15mtrs from where our vehicle was parked. It was incredible to see how a cat known to be so shy would do something so bold.

Where: Kabini, Karnataka, INDIA
Equip: Canon 50D | 100-400
Fstop: f/5.6
Shutter: 1/40 sec.
ISO: 640

Well I have never been to India Sachin, but let me tell you that most leopards in Africa are also very shy Sachin, The wilder the area, however, the less shy they are and that is why African leopards may seem less shy when you travel in very wild areas with hardly any human interference. There are several leopards living around and in the outskirts of the capital city of Botswana for example, but nobody ever sees them. Just the other day a young one was hit by a car!
You've got to love that relaxed pose here! The fact that there are no gaps in the BG vegetation here with hard sunlight coming through helps a lot to get a perfect exposure throughout without any of those white burnt out patches.
