Clematis 2

Another composition using the same Nelly Moser Clematis. I find this composition a bit static, devoid of a good flow.

ND300s, AFD 200mm F/4 Micronikkor, F/16, 1/30 Sec, ISO400, Diffuser and Tripod.

Thanks a lot for your comments on Clematis 1 and do let me if this one appeals to you or not.

I like this one, too. Particularly the shallow DOF and the way the central portion of the flower jumps out at ya. Composition-wise I do prefer the first one though. Nice work, as always.

Ram:
You are too harsh on yourself or your standard is very high. Thei one is fine. My suggestion is perhaps rotate this CCW and make the stamens look like there are climbing up; that should give it some movement

I prefer Clematis one Ram. You have clearly & accurately self critiqued this version.
Still a fine alternative view/comp, and beauty's in the eye of the beholder :toast:

I think this is a superb photo work Ram. I really like the POF you achieved. Wonderful. :toast:

I do prefer the first version to this one. And, I think you recognized why right away. I like the rotate idea, too.

Prefer the first comp Ram, but this is worthy of adoration too!
I think Gary may be onto something with his suggestion. Great work Ram!

While I like the colors, and like the photo overall, I do not find it a real 'moving' photo for me Ram.

Lots of diverse opinions on this one, so here's another. I prefer this image over Clematis one because I did not care for the flower center in the prior version being all the way in the corner. I think this works better but, on both images, I have resevarions about the center being cut down the middle. While original, I think I would prefer either the entire darker center included in the frame or all the dark center (unfurled) stamens excluded from the image. Same for version one. I guess I am just a conformist.

Edit: I meant furled, not unfurled.

Both are great. I really like all the details and the muted purple tones. Yes, this one does feel more static that the earlier version.

I think this flows well Ram maybe not as much as Clematis 1 but, the lines from the stamens out to the petal and the softness of the petal are really enticing. Beautiful pastel colors. I prefer the first one as well but this one is worthy of praise as well

A very compelling image! I also like the idea of the CCW rotation

Hi, Ram! I haven't seen the first one yet, but I love the sharpness of the center of the flower (and the colors).

Hi Ram :wavey: The curved line one the petal gives some flow, A vertical like the first one would work better ......... the detail and color are good, but still prefer the first one
