Zebra swallow tail

It must be the season, I photographed this zebra swallow tail with a hole in its' right wing, and ragged edges on both wings. It also had lost the slender tail extensions common with swallowtails.

I really enjoy the Zebra swallowtails, but find them hard to photograph because they seem to be always moving. I've never noticed the red antennae. Nice capture.

I've shot the Eastern Swallowtail here in CT, but have never seen this one here John.
Love the red wing markings & red antennae, pity it's missing that extra long tail..
Nice catch & have a great weekend! :wavey:

I've never had one stay still long enough to get a shot, great timing. That poor thing is quite beaten up isn't it? Nice coloration and markings especially that red stripe and the red antennae.

Nice shot under some challenging conditions, John. I like the striking BF and the colorful environment.
