Long-leaved Butterwort.

In May we spent two weeks in the Spanish part of the Pyrenees. Spring was bursting out in the high mountains. One of the plants I was looking for was this Butterwort. It is endemic for the Pyrenees. It grows very happily in cracks in between very damp vertical rocks. We found a lot of them and they were beautiful!

Nice shot Ellen, Like the way green leaves in the black background. Wish you crop the whites bit (from Left). Well done :toast:

I like this very much. Your choice to include wide context emphasizes the contrast between the delicate beauty of the wildflower and its environment.

Nice contrasting textures between the delicate flowers and the coarse rocky surroundings. Wish Spring would arrive in the Pacific NW....

Lovely find Ellen, I agree with the crop suggestion as there is a lot of white drawing the eye away from your beautiful subject. Even the tiniest plants can triumph if given a change. nicely seen and captured. :wavey:

Well shoot, I like the white competing with the dark rock...especially with the life in-between the two. Superbly seen and captured in my opinion.

I like the comp as is. Nicely balanced, IMO. I like the repeating contrasts: the yin-yang of the light and dark rock, and the neutral but contrasting green and purple flowers between the light and dark rock. Well seen and composed.

The butterwort seems to be a prize between dark and light. I like the effect, thought provoking.

Good eye for this comp, Ellen! I can't think of any more accolades to add than those already given. So, I'm going to be the "nitty" one and suggest to clone out the one dead bit of stem hanging down from the plant... Details, details... And also to consider a square-ish presentation for another image of this scene with a different look. Could be a "2-fer"!

Very beautiful image, Ellen ! Superbly captured, the contrast between the rocks and also the positioning of the flowers is a delight.
