Snowy Egret (Egretta thula)

Place: Gilbert Water Ranch, AZ, USA
Date: March 20, 2012 8:43 am
Equipment: Nikon D300, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8, G1325, RRS BH-55, Sidekick
Exposure: ISO 200, Aperture priority matrix metered, 1/2500th @ f/5.6, -1 stop ec
Raw, PS SC3 on Mac, 88% of frame

I don’t get much chance to get this species on a branch so I was happy to have this bird sit for a while as I pushed through some bushes to get into position. I was able to remove the 2x I usually keep attached. Light was already getting harsh but within the usable range.

I like the composition Richard. You have really handled the whites and shadows very well. Nice.

Good job handling the whites in the desert sun. Nice to see the yellow boots.

Great shadow to highlight detail as always from your subjects. The branches across the body is a big nit with me.

I like the bg and the greenery. Bird is well exposed with excellent details. I'm glad you found it's resting place. Very nice to view! Sharon

Beautifully sharp and yet with an overall beautiful soft effect, as with all your images.
