Tree in a Sweater

I went for a hike with my dog in the local mountains, a Saturday ritual. This morning, I came across this tree wrapped in a sweater. The tree is three miles and 1,700 feet up from the trailhead. I suspect a senior class prank, but it was a good one! It was quite a shock to come around the corner and see this toasty warm tree.

It is fog in the background. It was a little "June gloom" at the CA coast. I was right at the fog line.

This was an iPhone snapshot, the only camera I had with me.

Talk about an out-there image! Someone got very creative with this tree. Someone with a lot of time on his/her hands!

I would never in a million years have guessed this was an iPhone image. May I ask which version iPhone you have? (I have one and can't take a decent pic with it to save my life.) You must have done a bit of post processing? In any case - great work!

Lucky dog to go for a mountain hike every weekend!

I have the iPhone 4. I did very little PS work. I burned some of the brighter areas and that was about it. I find the iPhone is pretty good in good light. It is downright awful in low light or shooting in the direction of the sun.

What a quality for an i-phone shot. I would have never guessed this was an i-phone shot.

What a unique find. I love how you have added your own touch by showcasing the tree in the context of its environment.
