It was pre-monsoonal down pour with overcast condition, luckily our driver had his umbrella over me to protect my camera gear when I took this shot.

Camera: D300
Lens: 200-400mm
Exposure: 1/1500s @ f/4; ISO 800

Comments and Critiques are appreciated.

Thank you for viewing

Wow awesome shot! I love the rain, it really adds to the photo. And the bird on the buffalo's head is just icing on the cake! Good comp, I might want a tad bit more room on the right but thats just me...

You've managed to get enough details in the buffalo's body in spite of the rain and the overall dark animal. The myna as an add-on is a special touch!

Hi Butch,

I like the mood and composition here - and the bird is close to perfectly positioned to enhance the image. I must be doing something wrong - I have no one to hold an umbrella over me when I'm shooting in the rain!!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Wow - REALLY strong impact to this image, Butch! The light (while probably feeling insufficient in the field) does add to the mood and drama here. I love the texture of his horns and the foreground vegetation, and the frozen raindrops are a great addition. It's solid without the bird, but his presence and posture definitely make this even more memorable.

Congratulations on a fantastic piece of photographic art!

I really like this image, a lot of impact! Wonderful mood and lighting. I like wildlife photos done in the rain, this is no exception. However, I do wonder if the rain might be more esthetic if you had a slightly slower shutter speed to allow the rain to streak and create a more rain-like appearance. Not a general statement about rain and shutter speed, just in this particular instance with the dark hide and bright droplets. Just a thought...

Beautiful image with great atmosphere, Butch! I like to see the heavy Asiatic rain included and the bird works very well! :toast:

Great mood with the falling rain and the bird on its head, Butch.
Overall IQ is not doing it for me, though. Seems to suffer from a lack of fine detail - not sure if it was the rain, since your settings look solid......obviously just my opinion...

Lovely shot in principle, though!
