This is from a few days ago up on some remote forest roads in southern Washington. I was out scouting ridge lines for views and wildflower blooms and came upon some really great forest scenes. BTW...the flowers are coming! At around 4000' there are paintbrush and beargrass starting, now sign of lupine yet. Thanks for looking!

Very cool forest image Jeremy. Such vivid greens in your neck of the woods. Everything on the plains and basins here in Wyoming is already brown...no rain for a while now. Going to be a horrible fire season. And the lupines have already come and gone in most areas. They are at about 9000' as of today. Almost everything below that is toasted or on the way out.

The highlights in the ferns look a little odd...not sure if it's the sharpening? I'd almost be tempted to crop out that tree on the right as well.

Thanks. I thought about cropping the tree, but decided I liked it. I like the clover and smalls leaves in the bottm right more than I like that tree cropped. I think what you are seeing is a just that one side of the fern frawns wouldn't polarize due to the angle.

Wow, everyone is really on a roll this week, and this is no exception. You really managed to find a very nice composition in a situation where comps are hard to come by. I can almost smell the dank aroma of the lush grennery and decomposing vegetation.

LOVE this shot sir. You might want to try to de-saturate the blues in this image to reduce the reflection on those lower ferns. A VERY small nit for sure. I would really love to see a print of this some day.

Great look at the dense growth in our PNW forests! Love the comp of ferns below and mossy tree branches above. I think the suggestion of cropping a bit off the right is a good one. Also, the highlights look somewhat cyan, yes? But just gorgeous overall. Thanks for the wildflower report, too.

A tangled forest for sure. Love the image---at first it seems a bit busy, but after looking at this, and exploring the shadows, layers and such, I feel this comp works quite well. I guess I will say that the suggested crop, and de-saturation align to what I'm thinking might improve this a tad. Again, great job 'organizing' this scene into a presentable image!

BTW, do you have to watch out for poison ivy up there in Washington? Never been there myself...

Busy scene, but you tamed it quite nicely with the way you handled the light. I like the hints of blue in the ferns.

My only nit is that I want to see this big! Then, I could have the feeling of being in the middle of a lush, lush forest. Really nice. I can see how you struggled with the trunk. But, I guess the artist has to choose.
