Wild (or more correctly Feral) Desert Horse Stallion in the wild Namib Desert habitat.

I must admit that I cloned out three powerline poles in the far distance; the wild desert is not as wild as it used to be…:frown:

Namib Desert, near Aus in Namibia.
Camera Model Canon EOS 1D Mark IV
Shutter Speed 1/2000 Sec.
Aperture Value f/5.6
ISO Speed 200
Lens EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM @ 310mm

Love the feeling of solitude and free spirit in this photo. Looks like a lonely world!

I too like the feeling of solitude in this Vincent, I like the subtle saturation too.

Gary.

It's a beautiful scene Vincent, the horse stands out boldly as an interesting focal point. Surprisingly good detail on the horse, who you caught at a perfect phase of his stride esthetically. Too bad that we have to contend more and more with man made intrusions on the landscape. Ten years from now it won't be just power poles, maybe a Walmart...

Wow! I'd love to put this up on my wall. What a fabulous landscape! Does the image require a little CCW rotation, though?

I still want to go there for the horses, Vincent...did you get any stallions fighting?
Love the wide scape here.

I share your sentiments - few truly wild places left, even in Africa... :frown:
PS: just returned from Mana Pools - now that is proper wild and unspoilt!

Wow, definitely far from the massive, orange dunes that come to most of our minds when Namibia comes up. Just shows how diverse of a place Namibia is (both biologically and geographically). Awesome work Vincent!

What a setting! You caught the horse in perfect pose, legs separated and tail trailing behind.
