Spring on Red Mountain

I don't think there is anywhere in Colorado where the reds and greens come together any better than here in Glenwood Springs in the Spring.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Whoa...

Cool shot---I love the symmetry here, and the lighting. Great comp. I believe I've been up that way a while ago. My favorite area, perhaps in all of Colorado. The word 'vibrant' comes to mind first, when I remember that trip. Thanks for sharing this image!

Morris~
Very out of the box design here and the color superb. The dead tress must be from a fire?

Amazing colors and layers! I can't say it is to my taste for scenery, but I am a flatwoods and marsh guy. I would love to see this and come to know and like it. Thanks for posting this.

From the thumbnail it looked like a waimea canyon shot...

Cool find here, and the colors do work well together.

This is a cool shot, Morris. I like the comp you worked out and the colors do look really nice. Also looks like some very nice detail in this shot! I bet this would look great if seen larger too. Nice!

Thanks, guys. :wavey:

Nathan, it's growing on me, too.

Rick, there was a fire here some time ago, but the dead trees still stand. It was way too close to Glenwood!

Phillip, you just need to plan a trip to Colorado soon, for a change of pace. And, I need to see the low country.

Nicholas, I can't believe I didn't notice the similarity between this area and Waimea. Good eye!

Nick, I should have posted larger. Sorry.

Wasn't sure what to expect from the thumb here, but was excited to see. Not disappointed. Wonderful semi-abstract. I almost missed the bare trunks at first. Fire? Also, though I like the eroded background, is that maybe the result of unprotected soil Interesting image at many different levels.

Thanks, Tony. :wavey: Yeah, it was a fire some time back. I'm not sure how they would protect the cliffs from erosion. No development up top, so I'm not sure about access. And this doesn't show the scale of how big this eroded area is. My guess is that it was like this before there was a Glenwood Springs.

Ive been out there a million times, can't remember this scene--pretty wicked, Morris! Hopefully the monsoon will come quickly and keep it from all burning down...

Love the almost abstract design to your composition, Morris and the interaction of green and red really makes this sing. The stark dead trees add another great graphic element to the image. Hope you guys get some rain soon. Fantastic work.

I like the comp here, Morris and those colors are very impressive. The maroon formation in this area is very interesting and the greens really make this one sing.

Fascinating symmetry patterns here, Morris. Nicely seen! The shadows in the cliff bands look a little bright to me.

Thanks everyone!

Floris, you're right. Looking at it again after posting, I need to make the shadows a touch darker for the time of day. Thanks!
