This Two-striped Slantfaced Grasshopper (Mermiria bivittata), is from the Short-horned family of grasshoppers known as Acrididae.
The bit of yellow in the background are chrysanthemums..
F/18, 1/20th, ISO 500, 1D M3, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 around 7:30am and natural light.
There's supposed to be an abundance of insects this summer with the mild winter this year. I've already noticed more species than I can shake a stick at this season:wink:

Great capture, Howard! You certainly have been finding lots of insects to photograph lately judging on all the great insect photos you have posted! Nice comp and very good focus on this guy. I like the blurred background; the yellow adds an extra touch of interest and helps highlight the hopper. Only thought would be a slight crop off the right side.

Great shot, Howard. The Grasshopper gives the impression of being carved from wood. I love the perch.
