Found this, one of my favourite NA birds, near Merritt, B.C. last week at the same location as I had seen him last year.

1D MkIV, 600mm II, 1/1250 @ f5.6, ISO800, car window, mid-morning hazy light.

Very nice as posed. I love the colors in this. I can never get this species to come low or out in the open when I see i t here in AZ.

Hi K.C., I like these guys a lot as well, tropical color in a boreal setting pretty amazing. This is about as good an image of these guys as one could hope for, I know I've tried. Fantastic background adds to a great pose and perch. Hey, is that a new lens for you - thought you used a 500?
