Farmer's Pond

Was out exploring quite a bit last week for a change, and found this nice little scene after sunrise. Not real "pop" in the sky, and I didn't try to add much to it, but I liked the mist on the water, etc. D90, ISO-640, 1/500th, f-14, 38mm. Larger is posted, thanks for your comments/critiques!

A follow up crop to come.

Just a crop idea without the sky. Thanks for your OPs!

Bill, I think I like the second image better. The sun in the first image over powers the nice reflection in the pond and the effect that the fog adds. The second image is very peaceful feeling, while the first loses some of the peacefulness because of the very bright sun.

I agree that the sun is too dominant in the original, but id leave a little of it when you crop--about the bottom 1/4 of the bright portion, so it hints at the sun above. The fg is gorgeous!
EDIT: another way to look at it is that the sky on the rhs should match the fg grass distance for balance.

I think if that sun had been more muted by the clouds and more yellow or orange, this image would have worked in its original size as the full sky balances the tension between the warm colors and the cool ones. As it is, the sun seems more of a distraction than a unifying element and the crop would seem a better, though is a less dramatic option. I also like Stan's suggestion of a less extensive crop from the top.

A tranquil dawn scene, Bill. Love the way the light looks on the landscape: different qualities revealed in the mist/fog, the pond, the trees, the sky. Great stuff here.

Thanks everyone, I agree the sky doesn't add much. Some sort of crop in order to a more pano, something like the 2nd post.
