Ramona Falls
by John Williams
Standing on the bridge in front of Ramona last Sunday, I was whining in my inner mind about how hard it is to get a good composition of what is a spectacular waterfall when these sun beams showed up. I decided I should quit being a baby and start taking pictures.

This is magical! I know the words been used a few times already, but that's my reaction - and I'm sticking to it. This almost comes across as a composite, with the streaks of light being a separate image. No matter as this is such a unique and beautiful image. I think the cool to warm transition works beautifully too.

Joe, I just had to pop back in here and say your comment really cracked me up (Glad you grew up just in time...)! You couldn't have said it better, and it made my day.

Yes, water in shadow is blue and the look is captured so well here. It is appealing because of the softness and because the focus tends to be on the more pleasing warm, golden light. The transition between light and shadow in the comp is the key here, seems to me. The comp is masterful. So glad the sniveling didn't interfere with your trigger finger when the moment was right!
