This image was shot on the weekend on a trip to Auckland. The lighting wasn't great and I am still not comfortable using my new lens but I did manage to get a few I am happy with.

Nice focus on the butterfly, Toya. I like the nice perch and the overall comp. The lighting on the butterfly looks good but the background, while nice and blurred, is a little on the bright side. However, still a great image.

Beautiful, Toya. I like the pleasing, complementary colors. The subject is beautiful with the touches of pink, and the BG works very well. I'd be very happy with this as well.

I think it's an excellent image. Colours in this comp work so well. Focus just perfect.

Nice image. Photographing butterflies with a 500mm. I am impressed. Very nice balanced flash exposure.

Well lit with good colors, DOF, and details Toya. I like the subjects placement in your frame as well.
As far as the light area BG upper right side? It doesn't really bother me much. Controlling the BG is something we all have to deal with of course. And it's just a fact of nature photography (fauna) that many times you have no control..
It's either take the shot, or nothing at all..

Toya: Your next challenge should be to catch one of these with the wings open. Blue Morphos rarely pose with their wings open but at least they're still very photogenic wings closed. Very nice use of your long lens. 2 thumbs up! >=))>
