Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus)

Place: Gilbert Water Ranch, AZ
Date: April 4, 2012 7:02 am
Equipment: Nikon D300, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E (2x), G1325, RRS BH-55, Sidekick
Exposure: ISO 800, Aperture priority matrix metered, 1/640th @ f/8, -2/3 stop exposure compensation
Raw, PS CS3 on Mac, 69% of frame

I thought I’d follow up the previous cormorant post with this one, taken 11 days later at the same pond. Light and colors are a lot more pleasing here, at least for me.

Your usual good work, Richard. Good morning light, good detail, classic composition. I also like the angle, which allows for a nice reflection of the bird and pond greenery.

I like the proud, "head lifted to the light" pose here, Richard. Nice neck detail. A small nit: the water appears somehow dull, nice colors, but dull. Could be just turbidity in the water perhaps or, maybe the lighting.

Beautiful light on this Richard. I also like the low pov angle. :toast:

Like the color and background. I can almost feel the green eye looking at me.

I ike most everything about this shot Richard, but for me the image looks a tiny bit over-exposed (mostly on the darks).
