July 4th and Mt Rainier

Taken last night at Lake Tapps, WA with Mt Rainier in background. Finally a clear night! No rain. So much pent up winter-blues...that when the locals finally had a reason to celebrate with friends...it was over-the-top. After about 30 minutes of fireworks...the smoke layer blocked all distant views of the mountain..even of the far shore.

Timed exposure approx 30 sec with tripod, cable, and Nikon D300 / 14-24 mm zoom

Nicely framed. Despite all the fireworks, nature takes center stage. :toast:
