The background is not ideal but had to manage. It was sunlit while the butterfly was not. To overcome this problem I exposed for the background and used the in-built flash to throw some light at the butterfly @ -2EV. It worked.

The lower wing of the b'fly is slightly tattered.

ND300s, AFD200mm F/4 Micronikkor with 36mm of ET, F/5.6, 1/250 Sec, ISO400 and Tripod.

Thanks a lot for your comments on Damselfly and let me know if this works for you.

The background looks fine to me, Ram, as does the rest of the image. The light looks very natural. The coneflower makes a great perch, and the butterfly is well positioned in the frame. :toast:

I think this is a great job of controlling the light BG, and using flash to fill Ram.
I like the subjects placement in your frame, details look good to.
Great perch, perhaps a bit more of it?
Yeah, it works for me

Ram: Nicely done and good use of the tools at hand. Love the perch and your plane of focus management at f5.6. Great looking capture. >=))>

Wow, really love this BF. The bg is just fine and the exposure is just perfect.

So this is where all the floral moderators hang out!.
