Tropic Burst

I wanted to try something a little different this year for the local fireworks show at Tempe Beach Park in Tempe, AZ. I scoped the area the night before and had to guess just how high in the sky the display would be. As you can see, it would have been a better comp if I could have had the fireworks up a bit higher in the frame, but my back was to a building so I couldn't get the angle I was looking for. Oh well, there's always next year.
I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in POP, mods feel free to move.

Nikon D200, 17-55 2.8, 8 seconds @ f11, ISO400, tripod.

*The 1200px is starting to suffer a bit from compression.

I think you've pretty much put your finger on the short-coming of the image, but I agree that this is very much worth another attempt at recomposing in the future. Even if the right-hand burst had been centered between the trunks, the image would have worked better. I like the way the palm fronds make a natural imitation of the fireworks. If you try this again, maybe blending two images, one in which you light paint the tree tops for slightly more of the burst effect, and one for the fireworks might be worth considering. Neat idea; very creative thinking.
