Two Siblings?

I recenlty spent 10 days in southern Oregon and took quite a few images. Mostly of flowers and such rather than birds or wildlife. I found these two little mushrooms by the side of the road and thought that it looked like the bigger one giving shelter to the smaller one. They are fairly small with the larger being about 3 inches high and 1+ inches wide. Comments and critiques welcomed.

Nice find and capture of this pair, Peter. Excellent detail on the subjects. I like the natural, uniform background as well. I might have opted for a vertical comp in order to get the base of the two shrooms into the frame and reduce some of the empty space on the left, or at least tried to put more space on the right rather than the left (i.e., so that the mushrooms were leaning into the frame rather than out of the frame), but I wasn't there and I don't know what in the background precluded other comps. Thanks for sharing this one.

Mushrooms are always a special treat to find and photograph IMO. Good eye to find this; the comp of the larger and smaller mushrooms is an interesting one. Nice focus on the mushrooms and good even lighting. I think I would also like to see a vertical crop of this to showcase the mushrooms more.

As suggested, I went back and created a vertical image. Looks good to me. What do you think?

I like the repost, Peter; it certainly puts the mushrooms right up close! Possibly not so tight a crop on the sides would have given a little more breathing room but also ok as is.

My jealousy knows no bounds...I am photographing mushrooms tomorrow morning since we have had 4 days of heavy rain (unusual in Denver this time of year), but they are typically very hard to find! I like the vertical comp very much and the description of the one sheltering the other is precious!

Or "Gimme Shelter" (always liked the Stones)
Technically well done, like that vertical most Peter.
Well done! :toast:
