Red-tail Hawk fledgling was content sitting on a bunch of old branches until an adult flew by with food. Wild bird not baited. Nikon D300s, 300mm f2.8, ISO-500, F5.0, shutter- 1/500. Thanks for looking, critique, comments appreciated. Ray

Nice action shot with good detail and exposure. Interesting that the tail isn't visible here.

Great action!
The body is tack-sharp, which is the important part.
Too bad you were at a low SS- this is why I try to set for potential flight shots with a higher ISO and SS - most sitting birds will take flight at some point, then you're ready to freeze wings.
Nice image, nontheless!

Excellent take-off action Ray, great sharpness/stop action.
It's a fine POV and comp, love that contrasting green BG too.
Well done! :toast:

A good takeoff action shot. The BG is pretty busy. A higher ISO, and possibly a small negative EV might have taken some of the blur out of the wings and tamed the whites a bit better. The 300s is good for 800 ISO with little or no noise in this situation.
