A simpler composition than some of my Headwaters and a little less abstract, with lots of recognizable pebbles, but I really like the flow. Does it work for anyone else? Critiques welcomed. Thanks for looking

I think this is VERY cool - the multi-directional ripples over the pebbles add a lot of interest to the great colours.
Well-done!

Nancy, I can see how you were attracted to the water flower over the peoples--many looking like donuts. IMO, as a landscape it doesn't work in spite of the rich browns. I think it's far too busy. Maybe zeroing in on a small segment of these waters might work.
I think it may have better possibilities as a abstract with further work. Perhaps one color and many shades of subtle grays. .
Ideas that might be worth trying.

I think this works as a "moment seized" shot, that makes it interesting just in the fact that you captured this moment. When watching patterns like this, they are too fleeting to study in detail like this. They are more mesmerizing. So, this works for me as a freeze frame for study of the patterns and light refraction.

A very appealing composition to me, Nancy. Exposure and processing are spot on to my eye. Especially the diverse directions of the flow brings the image to life for me.

Nancy Lea,
Excellent! I really like the clarity here and the natural coloration and processing is spot on. The mix of reality of the pebbles and abstract nature of the water as you noted, works beautifully here. Yet another great image in your water abstracts.
I think though, I'm getting to the point of curiosity of seeing the broader landscape? Really, just curious to see where the stream is, is this just a 10ft section you continue to work, or a 2mile stretch of the stream you find all these gems? I'm afraid the answer might be, "oh, this stream runs off just outside by back patio....." ;-) On the other hand, perhaps seeing the bigger picture would ruin it for some, so probably best not to reveal.... just thinking out loud.

I like the ripple variety here. Creates a lot of movement for the eye. Bright orange area at the top feels a bit out of place. Maybe burn it down some?

Nancy Lea, I really like the clarity of the ripple lines and especially those two pebbles top center. It seems that the stream is watching back. My eyes tend to stay at the top with only occasional rambles down the vertical ripples, which keeps this from having the impact that some of your other headwaters shots have. I find that cropping from the left to just past the golden pebble at the top feels more balanced....but that could easily be just me. Cheers.

I think this is pretty cool looking, Nancy. This works so much better for me doing a scroll crop taking the top 1/4 or so off. That eliminates the somewhat distracting blurry area for me and enhances the rest of the beautiful abstract. This has some great colors, shapes and textures!
