A lovely view of the bird at an impressively low angle. f/4 might have pinched the DOF just a bit.

F4 + higher ISO = A very overcast day and I wanted to get as much SS as possible, as these guys hop about very quickly and are still for only a second.

Hey Sandy, nice low angle image. Your bird is a Long billed Thrasher, not a Curve-billed. Was this taken in S. Texas?

Well isolated and nice detail.

We keep looking for one to show up in AZ and I always look very closely when I find a vagrant Brown Thrasher here to make sure it isn't a Long-billed.

Really nice POV. I also like that the ground colors are picked up in the bird too.

Sandy, excellent detail & background. My personal bias is against complex borders, but since you used it, good color choice.

The shallow dof works very well for me because of profile pose of the thrasher. Nice POV and a great look at the eye.

Sandy, this one of my favorite birds and this shot does them justice. I love the very low POV which nicely shows off the distinctive markings on the breast and provides a nice look at the orange eye. - well done.

This is a super beautiful portrait! I like your choice of aperture...it softened the background beautifully! Also, great perspective!

nice work, Sandy. great low angle, nice detail and setting. maybe just me, but it looks a bit on the cool side (especially on the face) and I might try warming up a little to a cloudy or shade white balance setting.
