Sunset near Castle Sinclair, Caithness, Scotland

Tough scramble getting down to this place but glad I did (with some help). Taken on a Transient Light Workshop in Caithness and Sutherland. The rock formations and light were amazing. The actual castle remains are behind me. I will post them in M&N at some point (maybe next).

Edit - BTW - Here is my M&N image if interested. Castle Sinclair Girnigoe

Pentax 67II
Pentax 55-100mm
Lee 1.5 Stop HE Gradient Filter
Fujifilm Velvia 50

Scanned with a Epson V750 with betterscannining.com adjustable holder with ANR glass and Silverfast Ai Studio 8 software..

Thanks for having a look.

This looks like a great location for wide number of compositons. I like the detail on the larger image as you really get to check out all that wonderful lichen. Way to go.

A convincing image to me, Eva. I especially enjoy the tangible details of the lichen covered rocks. Great sense of depth and scale, and superb lighting.

Beautiful comp, and the details/textures are fantastic. You did a very good job on the use of HE GND and I can hardly detect the transition line.

The larger version provides excellent detail and a better look at the overall composition here, Eva. The V-50 has done a very nice job with the overall colors too.

Did you swap out images??? I swear I saw a different one last night; of course, I could be confused. Either way, this is gorgeous. I love the lichens and "stuff" on the rocks (would love to see a macro of that), and the pastels in the clouds really draw me in. Beautiful capture Eva.

Thanks all for your comments.

Yes Bill. I notice while working on this image, previous had no comments (actually for quite sometime). Decided I liked this image much better. So with no comments and low number of views on the previous post, I deleted it and posted this.

Wonderful study in stone. The soft colors of the sky contrast nicely with the hard texture of the stone.

The 'lichenscape' in the foreground is just as pretty as all the other elements you captured.
And all of those elements fit together oh so well. My first thought upon viewing this was one of pure silence (save for the breakers on the shore).

Very interesting composition. I really love the detail in the FG rocks and the moss/grass on the background rocks. But my favorite part of this image is the bright area in the center of the cloud, which really draws your eye right through the entire image. Well done!

Oh, a bonnie shot, Lassie!

See, your shot is so stinking good of Scotland, that you brought out my Scottish heritage.

Love EVERYHTING about this one, Eva! :toast:

Really neat, Eva. The foreground rocks and lichens almost steal the show here, but the craggy distant sea stacks and cliffs work in balance with the sky as well.

Lovely image here. The foreground detail on the rocks is awesome and the contrast between the colorful sky and the grey rocks really works. Nice job on the image and a great reminder to us all to look around and don't get too focused on one thing (e.g. the castle in this case).

Love this one Eva. Gorgeous light and color throughout. The mottled colors on the rock and nicely mirrored in the grasses on the cliff. The light and sky are just awesome.
