Beautiful comp and exposure; details show in both the blacks and whites.
What is that? From the tropics? I have never seen anything like it in North America.

Very good exposure of this difficult color combo, great details and soft BG Bunn.
Good use of flash without overpowering the image, nicely composed too :wavey:

I don't have any detailed knowledge of butterflies or what kind this is. Use of flash: I have learned that using a regular flash like my Nikon 910 and exposing for the ambient light usually with a +.7 exposure comp works better than using the Nikon Macro set up at least for subjects like butterflies. I set a standard -3 flash comp. This is my set up... you may find the macro flash works better. I have both and use both of them. The test is of course that the flash is undetectable. BTW my setting are influenced by the fact that I use the 105 macro and not something longer. The 105 AF is much faster than anything else when your subjects are fleeting. BTW I am not an expert and have a lot to learn about flash.
