I tried to isolate the butterfly in the sunflower field.

Is there too much distraction in background ??

Delight Indeed . . .
Rick you have out-done yourself the colors are fantastic. The BG is a great part of the entire capture that adds a whole other deminsion by no way distracting. I like the framing also. Very Well Done . . .

I find the background delightful, too. Everything looks great to me. (Of course, the better the picture, the more I am tempted to tweak it, so I wonder if it might be even better with a little bit more contrast just on the BF, or maybe the BF and perch. Pleasure to see this. The hackberry emperor is one of the Nymphalids that doesn't live in my part of the world.

Wow, Rick, this is gorgeous. The background is way too dramatic and colorful to be distracting. I love it. Despite the strong BG light, there is excellent detail in the butterfly. I was going to suggest cropping the oof bottom to a 4x5 ratio, but, after going back and forth, I think I decided I like it just the way it is. Kudos on a distinctive and great capture. :toast:

Rick - Given the situation I think you handled it admirably. While the highlights in the background are not ideal, I think the superb rendition of the butterfly compensates more than enough in this frame :toast:

Rick, this looks great to me. Love the bright colors and the subtleness of the very detailed/superbly sharp butterfly. Nice composition in my book.

Beautiful, I think the bg is wonderful and showcases the butterfly perfectly.

I don't think the BG distracts at all here, a great variation of your last post Rick.
In point of fact, the lighter yellow behind its head helps it too stand out better IMO.
Well done :wavey:
