Spotted cucumber beetle

Coneflowers sure seem to attract all kinds of visitors! Found this spotted cucumber beetle taking a break from feeding to groom his antennae. Interestingly, it looks like he has some sort of "dent" on his body.

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/7.1 for 1/100 sec. ISO 400. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Nice find and image, Carolyn. Excellent POV. I like the head scratching behavior (his head, not mine) and the wide variety of beautiful colors.

Nice colors, it almost looks like it is floating over the flower! Thanks for sharing.

These are cool little beetles, haven't tried to shoot one in a long time. As I remember they were a pain because they just won't sit still very long. I had to catch em' early when it was cooler to get stills..
I like the opposing diagonals of the cone flower Carolyn, it's a neat view of the little guy navigating the tops of those spikes too :wavey:

Cool shot, Carolyn. I like the 3-D quality, DOF and plane of focus to show us both the beetle and the flower.

Lovely color & detail, Carolyn. My taste would have been more DOF to get both antennae & his back end in focus. Really like the Background.
