Forest Fungi

While on a recent backpack trip I had some time to kill during the day when the wind and harsh sunlight were my nemesis. So, my eyes turned to the forest floor and found these mushrooms. The tallest was about 1/2 inch.
This was a 33 image stack. Additionally, I did use Nik filters to enhance the image...tonal contrast, sunlight, and detail. Still not sure how I feel about shroom images, but they were interesting.
Any critiques are welcome.

Ken, this tiny group of mushrooms is a real attention getter. Love the striking orange color against the contrasting green BG. I was surprised to read how small they are. Nice work with the stack as the detail is excellent and I see no stacking artifacts. Thanks for sharing this mushroom family. :toast:

Wow, the tallest was about 1/2 inch? And a 33 image stack? You are one committed photographer! Great results from all your effort, Ken! Nice comp, good contrasting colors, and great details from all your stacks. I like the interesting background too with the angled log and the moss. These may not be the most photogenic of mushrooms out there but all the elements come together well to make this a very nice little intimate landscape scene.

Love the excellent details of your stack. It sort of makes this look like a much larger scene, with giant mushrooms against a rocky cliff. I think the background and excellent comp makes this work very well even though the mushrooms themselves show some signs of wear. Nice job seeing the beauty even where Nature's trials seem to spoil what we perceive as perfection.
