Morning on the Saco & Re-Post
by Harry Lichtman
Unusually low water levels on NH's Saco River in the White Mountains allowed me to access areas of the river that would normally be too swift or deep to travel on foot. Slower sections and smooth conditions provided some nice reflected light during this sunrise.
2 exposures, one for the water and land forms, the other for the sky.
5DII, 17-40L, ISO 400, 1/4 sec. & 2 sec., f16
Thanks for the look/suggestions.

I just LOVE the reflected colors echoing in the water; the low perspective really picks that up well. I can see the desire of a crop here, but personally I like the weighted balance that the rocks provide in the LL and cropping them out actually changes things to the detriment of the image, IMHO.
However Harry, I must say I think I prefer your 2nd post. To me, the first is not really about the flow of the water because you reduce it's importance with the low perspective - to me it's about the colors - and the rock to some extent interacting with the flow of the water. And so with that, the color is even more the story in the vertical, yet there still is a nice comp and flow with the water. The color highlights picked up not only in the water and pool downstream, but also being picked up on the wet rocks is just gorgeous.
Just my .02, I love both of them. Thanks for showing the vertical too.

Oops, just scrolled down to see the vertical. Yeah, that one gets an ,"Oh, Mommy!."
