Olympus E5, ZD300 2.8, 1.4xTC, ISO200, f6.3, 1/800 resting on vehicle window

Early morning trip to the local refuge turned up a lot of photo ops. This rail was unexpected. It was running around in the reeds with a family of very young pheasant chicks. I waited for a bit, and it briefly came out into the open for me. I was actually trying for some more Sora shots, so this was great....they are only occasional visitors to this particular refuge, and I have never seen one there.

Super detail on the bird. Maybe a little over-sharpened in the large image. I would be tempted to back off just a little.

I had no idea Virginia Rails made it all the way to your area. And, obviously, breed there. Great capture. Nice detail in the bird. I'm on my uncalibrated laptop, but it seems just a bit over-bright to me.

Detail is really nice, I be tempted to crop a bit more to show of the bird.

I think it is a treat to ever see one let alone get a picture of one, way to go.
