Seen outside of Tofino, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Kelp draped around this Orca as it surfaced and exhaled. Taken from a very rocking boat!

Canon 5d, M3, ISO 400, 400mm, f/11, 1/1000 sec.

Fine image - we don't get many orcas posted here.
Looks like nice detail, althpugh hard to tell with only a small version.

Jealous very jealous. I know the Orcas only visit the Tofino area about once a month so a lucky encounter indeed.

Using F5.6 might have helped give you a smoother background. F11 seems a little high for this type of situation but I appreciate that we are not always prepared when encounters like this happen.

I really like this, especially because it holds the attention grabbing feature of the kelp. If this is not full frame I would like to see a little more space on the left for him to move into. I would also use the line just above the head as a horizontal reference, as I think the brown meets dark is the strongest suggestion of horizon.

Very nice! I'd love the chance to photograph Orca's sometime in the future. Very good shot while shot from a rocking boat. I agree with Lon about the room in front if you have any frame left  :toast:

Nice find, Kathy. It's certainly got a nice hairpiece.

I'd agree with Lon's point about the horizon. I think you could make a simply clockwise rotation using the water line as a reference point.

Super cool photograph Kathy  The kelp really adds a unique quality to this image. It's also nice that the whale came up fairly high out of the water. Nice Work!!!
