An older image from a couple of years back, I came upon this one when reprocessing some of my older work. I never used this image for anything, but I actually really liked it so I decided to rework it and it turned out well I think. The lynx is a captive animal in the wildlife park of Cabarceno, Spain.

Tech: Sony A700, 300mm f4.0, iso 1250 & 1/320

Jorne,
This is a fine looking Cat in a very nice setting. I really like the angle that the mountain side adds to this capture. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Jorne,

Nice to see you back in here! This one works nicely for me - definitely a solid shot. I like the diagonal flow here and how the upturned tail nicely balances those great ear tufts. The one thing I noticed right off the bat is that the majority of the plants seem to be growing at quite a tilt (as opposed to straight up). Odd, eh?

Cheers...thanks for sharing this one and hope to see you in here again soon!

Hi Jorne, when I saw the thumbnail I knew this had to be one of yours from that wildlife park, where else would yu come across these beautiful cats where they offer you such great opportunities  . I love it, very powerful image with the eye contact and lovely habitat setting. The diagonal positioning makes for an interesting composition as well. Yet, I do wish you had included a bit more of this great habitat setting; because it is so attarctive and to give that cat some space! (but I see you were working with a fixed FL lens...)

That's a great shot & framing. I would suggest that you do a little noise reduction selectively on the background. It's got a bit of grain at iso 1250. I wouldn't touch the cat as there's no noise & the detail on him is delightful.

Super job! :toast:

Lovely setting, exposure, pose and details! I like the diagonals, but the plants have also got me wondering if you composed it like this?
Some great images to be had at that park - how large is it - the animals aren't really in cages/enclosures are they?

Thank you all for the kind words, I hope to do lots more wildlife photography in the future, but I'm still a poor student at the moment and landscaping is just cheaper  About the plants, I'm not 100% sure since it was 2 years ago, but I'm quite certain I did not tilt the camera that far

Hi Jorne - this is a very striking image thanks to excellent techs, strong design and comp and wonderful colours. Living alongside the Rockies I can attest that the plants in my area grow every which way in many places, sometimes with an obvious reaching for the light tendency, and other times just plain leaning away from the wind. What I did notice immediately after the comments about tilt was that the lynx's legs look pretty much exactly as I would expect them to look. I think you were bang on horizontal or very very clopse. Tilt the image so the grass grows straight up and the lynx would be defying the laws of physics.

Beautiful shatpness, texture and depth to this. Still waiting for my first encounter in the wild with a Canadian Lynx with camera in hand.

Looking forward to seeing more of your images!

Thank you for the kind words and confirming the non tilt thing! Good to know I wasn't drunk when shooting this
